Our small and personal office provides a warm and friendly atmosphere that allows our patients to feel at ease. Depending on the season or holiday, you may find our office decked out with fun decorations to make patients' visits feel more welcoming. The comfort of our patients is our first priority. We believe that having a trusting relationship with our patients allows us to obtain the best results. We want to give you more reasons to smile.
We are committed to providing our patients with the best orthodontic treatment in order to create their best smiles. Many of us take our beautiful smiles for granted, not realizing that they also contribute towards our self confidence and personalities. Our team is comprised of Dr. Kathy Vroom, Judy, Nathaly, and Julia. We are excited to restart our internship program with our newest interns, Anusha and Kiera.
We all feel fortunate that the field of orthodontics gives us the opportunity to meet and establish some pretty great relationships with our patients and their families. In fact, Dr. Vroom has started treating the children of some of her former patients!
Located in Annandale, we are very convenient to the Alexandria, Arlington, Springfield, Burke, and Fairfax
regions.
We are "in-network" with most major insurances and provide assistance with obtaining insurance benefit information and filing claims for our patients. We are providers for Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Delta Dental, Dominion Dental, GEHA, Guardian, Humana, Metlife, United Concordia, United Healthcare, and more.
We understand that orthodontic treatment can be expensive, so our office offers zero interest payment plans to make treatment possible and more affordable. We do not use a 3rd party financing company, many of which charge interest. Your initial evaluation is complimentary.

OUR SERVICES
Kids/Teens Braces
We work with both the more traditional stainless steel brackets and offer a cosmetic ceramic style bracket too. Patients can also select from a wide variety of colors which allows them to personalize their braces making their treatment more fun!
Phase One/Early Treatment
We offer early orthodontic treatment for kids, also known as Phase One treatment.
Phase One treatment is used to address skeletal growth issues, crowding, narrow maxillary arches, habits, etc. It also can make Phase Two treatment less complicated or decrease the chance of having to extract adult teeth. Not all patients are advised to get early orthodontic treatment.
Adult Braces
It's never too late to get braces!
Braces not only enhances the appearance of a smile, but can also improve the health of teeth and gums. We also work in tandem with your general dentist to address restorative needs such as implants, bridges, and crowns.
Adults are typically more compliant than children which allows for better results.
Retainers
We ideally prefer same day retainer delivery for our patients when their braces are removed. Not one of our patients, but need a new retainer? Give us a call! We can help you get a new retainer even if you have never received treatment with us. We create our Essix style (clear) retainers in house which allows for a same day turn around time.
Orthognathic Surgery
We will work closely with your oral surgeon to address skeletal discrepancy cases. Sometimes ideal occlusal results cannot be obtained with braces alone. We treat underbite, open bite, and more serious overjet cases in conjunction with surgery. In these cases, patients have a pre and post surgical phase of braces as part of their treatment plan.
Teeth Whitening
For patients who want a brighter smile after orthodontic treatment, we offer teeth whitening. Custom trays for bleaching are fabricated for a more exact fit. Patients have the option of choosing from a starter kit with 2 trays and bleaching syringes for $325 or simply purchasing refill syringes to replenish their supply.
OUR TEAM
Dr. Kathy Vroom
Dr. Kathy Vroom attended the University of Virginia (go Hoos!!) as an Echols Scholar and graduated in 1988 with a major in Biochemistry. She continued her education at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry graduating first in her class in 1992, immediately followed by a postgraduate orthodontic residency at VCU in 1994.
In her spare time, Dr. Vroom keeps busy with various professional and family activities. She is a CPR instructor to her fellow dentists for the Northern VA Dental Society, mentors office interns (future dentists or orthodontists!), and is a recent empty nester with her son departing for college at William and Mary (go Tribe!).
In Dr. Vroom's spare time, she enjoys cooking, biking, masters swimming, golfing, boot camp (helpful to counteract the cooking), traveling, and reading.
